Stillbirth and Healing: Remembering the Silent Stories

Some babies are born silent, yet their impact lasts a lifetime. Stillbirth means losing a baby after 20 weeks of pregnancy — a heartbreak no parent should ever have to face.
There are many possible causes: placental problems, fetal growth restriction, high blood pressure, cervical insufficiency, infections, diabetes, or sometimes, heartbreakingly, no clear reason at all. While medicine may not always offer closure, awareness does save lives.
Paying attention to baby’s movements, keeping up with regular antenatal visits, and reporting any changes promptly can make a real difference. These simple acts of care often form the strongest line of protection.
For parents who have endured this loss — your baby’s memory deserves to be honored. Light a candle. Write a letter. Speak their name aloud. Love doesn’t end where life does.
Before planning your next pregnancy, give yourself time for emotional healing, medical evaluation, and pre-conceptional counselling. Each of these steps helps ensure a safer and more supported journey next time.
Every year, October 15th is observed as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. At 7 p.m., families across the world join in a global wave of light, lighting candles to remember every little life gone too soon.
Healing begins when we start talking. Let’s keep this conversation alive — for every parent who has loved and lost. 🌷

And remember, when it comes to your health, it’s always better to have a heartfelt conversation with your doctor than to interpret online information on your own. You deserve care that’s personal — just like your healing. 💗
