If you’ve been trying everything — dieting, working out, and still can’t seem to lose that stubborn weight — PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) might be the reason behind it.
🌸 Why Weight Gain Happens with PCOS
In PCOS, two main factors work against you:
Hormonal imbalance – Your body produces more androgens (male hormones), which can lead to fat storage, especially around the belly.
Insulin resistance – Your cells don’t respond effectively to insulin, causing higher blood sugar levels and stronger cravings — especially for carbs and sweets.
This combination slows down your metabolism and makes losing weight feel nearly impossible. But the truth is — it’s absolutely possible!
💡 How to Manage Weight with PCOS
🥗 1. Eat balanced, low-glycaemic meals.Include whole grains, lean proteins, fibre-rich vegetables, and healthy fats. Avoid refined sugar and processed food.
🏃♀️ 2. Stay active.Aim for at least 30–45 minutes of moderate exercise daily — like walking, yoga, dancing, or strength training.
🧘♀️ 3. Manage stress.Chronic stress affects cortisol levels, which can worsen insulin resistance. Meditation, breathing exercises, or simply unwinding can help.
💤 4. Prioritise good sleep.Poor sleep disturbs hormones that regulate hunger and metabolism. Aim for 7–8 hours of quality rest.
⏳ 5. Be consistent. With PCOS, consistency truly is the secret ingredient. Small, steady lifestyle changes over time bring the best results.
✨ Remember: PCOS weight gain isn’t your fault. Your body just needs a little extra understanding and patience. With the right guidance and consistency, transformation is absolutely possible.
