Struggling with mysterious pelvic pain every month? You’re not alone. Endometriosis is one of those conditions that hides in plain sight — often brushed off as “just bad cramps,” but it’s so much more than that.

In endometriosis, tissue that behaves like the lining of your uterus starts growing outside it — on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or even the pelvic walls. Every month, these cells respond to your hormones, bleed, and inflame — but since there’s nowhere for the blood to go, it leads to pain, swelling, and sometimes scar tissue.

This pain can show up during your periods, while having intercourse, or even during bowel movements. Fatigue, bloating, and fertility challenges can also be part of the picture.

The hardest part? It often takes years before many women are properly diagnosed. Too many are told that pain is just part of being a woman. It’s not. If your periods are keeping you from living freely — missing work, losing sleep, dreading those days — please don’t normalize it.

A caring conversation with your gynaecologist can make all the difference. From pain management to lifestyle changes and treatment options, there’s help — and there’s hope.

Remember, painful periods deserve attention, not tolerance.
